Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my van is Class 4 or Class 7?

Check the design gross weight on the manufacturer's plate or in the handbook: up to 3,000kg is Class 4, over 3,000kg up to 3,500kg is Class 7.

How much is a Class 7 MOT?

Up to £58.60. A Class 4 van is capped at £54.85.

What about heavier goods vehicles?

Above the Class 7 limits (3,500kg, or 4,250kg for zero emission vans), goods vehicles count as lorries, which have an annual test instead of an MOT.
